You can never capture it again. Posted: Tue Sep 10, am. I think Mr. Matt is right here. The Story Of Frank Zappa? The most remarkable is that Dylan came to Franks house in and played his newest demos to him. No result. Maybe it would have been a funny album On the Bob Dylan - Frankie Meets Bobby hand, I would like to know what Dylan felt about Frank.
Anybody got a hint on that? Posted: Mon Sep 23, pm. That's exactly what I've been trying to enunciate in the other Bob Dylan - Frankie Meets Bobby. Zappa is either never even mentioned as Quasimoto Stomp! - The Kanaloas - Play Quasimoto Stomp! & Other Tunes great musician, being ignored totally, or he's written off as "that joke guy", or the "novelty music guy".
While mediocre jokers like Dylan are hailed as geniuses, yada yada yada. Zappa doesn't get his due from the general public. I wonder if he ever cared about that? Posted: Fri Sep 27, am. Just to put everbody straight on this issuse I submit the following quote by Hard Rain - Frank Zappa on Dylan!! I heard that one and I was jumping all over the car. And then when I heard 'Like a Rolling Stone' I wanted to quit the music business, because I felt: 'If this wins and it does what it's suppose to do, I don't need to do anything else!!
It didn't happen right away, and I was a little dissapointed. Posted: Fri Sep 27, pm. I believe he wrote Blonde On Blonde off as "cowboy music. I think it's damn good "cowboy music. Posted: Mon Sep 30, am. He's listed in the thank you's on Stone Temple Pilots' "Purple" released in - probably as an "RIP" type of thingand both Frank and Jimmy Carl Black's names appear in the thank you's on Sublime's self-titled album. Turns out Bradley Nowell was a huge Zappa fan. Posted: Tue Oct 01, pm. Comparing them is very tricky.
He is not a composer like FZ. Don't get me wrong, though. I think Zappa had it all Posted: Wed Oct 02, am. Zappa and Dylan were both hugely talented I think it's sad that Dylan gets trashed so much considering the immense impact he had on modern popular music simply because he couldn't sing all that great and continued performing and recording long after his heyday or because his music doesn't appeal to one's personal Louise Bourgeois - Nicodri Trio - Precious Liquids. I think he deserves due respect.
I still Hard Rain - Frank Zappa Zappa over Bob but Bob was nonetheless a great songwriter I'm not the biggest Dylan fan in the world, but I have nothing but respect for the guy, and I DO love some of his Swans - Screen Shot. Comparing Zappa to Dylan is like comparing I can't think of a cute analogy.
They're two great things that don't really have much in common. So there. Posted: Wed Oct 02, pm. I like Bob's voice. There's a kind of honesty and sincerity to it that I like. Posted: Thu Oct 03, am. Posted: Fri Oct 04, pm. Posted: Fri Oct 11, am. I guess the bottom line for me is I don't much give a shit whether people dislike or hate his voice or his playing or even his songwriting I like him and for me, myself, and I that's all that matters.
That lad casts a HUGE shadow in music history and one can deny it or disagree all they want Posted: Fri Oct 11, pm. Posted: Sat Oct 12, pm. I thought that's what the debate was about, who has a better legacy as a musician. Zappa wins, hands-down. A lot of people worship Dylan but it can't be for the music.
It's because magazines like Rolling Stone followed his every move in the late 60's and 70's, so people thought they had to worship him to be "cool". Page 1 of 4. Previous topic Next topic.
